Celebration mood at the „ANWB Campsite of the Year Award” in Utrecht

The fixed point at the start of the camping season was and is the annual camping gala of the ADAC, which took place on January 13 for the first time in 3 years again together with invited guests.

But the program of the ADAC began this year with an innovation - the ADAC Symposium invited top-class speakers to pass on a successful know-how transfer to about 80 participating campsites. The relevant topics included "Energy", "Architecture" as well as "Digitalization" and thus for the camping industry but also for the entire tourism red-hot topics.

Just a few hours later, the representatives of the camping industry met to celebrate the ADAC Camping Awards and their winners at the gala evening. With a completely new concept in the Varieté, a brilliant start to the camping season was heralded.

We may congratulate the winner, Camping du Domaine de Masserau (FR) for the award in the category "Sustainability & Environmental Awareness". The exceptional & sustainable concept could convince the jury.

We may congratulate the TCS Pop Up Glamping for the award "Innovation & Progress"! The special thing about this place is the exclusive glamping experience at 2000 meters altitude in the middle of the Swiss mountains.

A very special great pleasure was given to one of our customers - Camping Holiday Village Florence may call the award "Demographic Change & Accessibility" his own. For many years, the campsite has specialized in guests with disabilities. Since last year, the blind and visually impaired can now also explore the site independently via tactile maps and information in Braille.

The award "ADAC Camping Booking" was given to Camping Ostseequelle.camp. The entire booking process, as well as check-in and check-out were completely digitalized at this campsite.

The last award, that of the "Hall of Fame", was felt particularly emotional this year. None other than one of the European camping pioneers was allowed to look forward to this particularly coveted lifetime achievement award. Unfortunately, the winner, Siegfried Heinze, could no longer celebrate this special gift himself - our "Sigi" unfortunately passed away at the end of 2022. This award was given to Sigi posthumously and received by his son Ralph, who will surely carry on his father's footprint and spiritual legacy with the greatest dignity and to the best of his knowledge! Dear Sigi - you will always remain in our hearts!

We wish all our partners and customers a good start into a successful season 2023 and are already looking forward to a nice get-together at the ADAC Camping Gala 2024!
